ABOUT LEIGH

With an outstanding background as a professional equestrian with over 15 years of teaching experience, Leigh Krumholtz brings both her passion and her expertise to the arena, helping you believe & achieve!

Leigh got her start in horses at the young age of 10. At 12 yrs old she was training her first youngster , Makita Power, in groundwork and progressed with him in many disciplines such as eventing and dressage. Together they earned many championship awards.

Over the years she trained and cliniced with many great coaches such as Joe Thauer and John and Char Lassetter, whom she went to England to train with 6 days per week at 19 yrs old. Upon return to Canada she took some time to raise her family, and devote her time to bringing new riders along and introduce them to the world of showing.

She has been coaching for 20 yrs. In the last 4 years she has dedicated herself to the improvement of her riding and coaching geared towards being more competitive again.            This can be seen in her 2nd lvl horse, Echo who she started 3 yrs ago. She continues to take great pride in all her students (and horses in training) accomplishments no matter how big or small.

Available services...private or small group lessons, clinics, horse training/retraining for any english discipline as well as western dressage and a good foundation for any western discipline.

What some happy students say:

Leigh has been an amazing coach and mentor for me over the years. She is my go to person when it comes to my horses and riding career. To explain all of what she has done for me is just too much to put in words. She has helped me to develop into a rider that is sensitive to what my horse is telling me. I've also learned that when I am having a problem, not to first look at my horse as the issue but myself as the issue perhaps. Leigh has brought me up from an unsteady beginner to the confident rider that I have become. She has helped my horse and I to grow together, training from the bottom up. The way she goes about teaching her lessons is also something I have found I love. She always starts the lesson off by asking me what I believe my issues are and how me and Carson are working together. It allows me to think about what I think we need to work on and what I want to focus the lesson on. She has always maintained a balance between pushing me in my lessons and allowing me to be. She is great for encouraging you during lessons by helping you through exercises in a way that doesn't make you strive for perfection but something even a little bit better than the last attempt. Leigh has also helped me to realize that even if you are taking baby steps in the direction you want, it is still better than not moving at all. Even with set backs, there is always a way to move forward again, even if you need to try a different approach. All in all I highly recommend Leigh as a coach. With her wide range of knowledge on horses and riding she is sure to be able to help and teach many people.

I have taken riding lessons off and on since I was 12 years old. I have had exposure to a wide variety of teaching methods from a number of riding coaches, but none as effective as Leigh's approach. Her focus concentrates not only on improving the skills of the rider, but also the abilities of the horse. From training a young horse, to helping experienced riders improve their skills, her teaching provides the student with a confident understanding and appreciation for the movement of the horse. Using examples the student can visualize, Leigh encourages the rider to ride with feeling as opposed to mechanically. Her encouragement motivates the student to continue to improve and reach their goals. Leigh possesses a wealth of knowledge when it comes to horse care and ownership. The lesson rarely starts and ends in the arena. She takes the time to ensure the student understands all aspects of the horse/owner relationship and care of the animal. These are just a few reasons why I recommend Leigh as a phenomenal instructor, and will continue to take lessons from her in the years to come.

In the past I've been through 13 instructors/coaches. No one else has been able to explain things to me in complete detail and passion. I can always trust Leigh and feel comfortable with it.

Being through 13 instructors I don't know why we didn't just look farther down the road where I was taking lessons at previously.

Leigh had also. gave me my bestfriend. One of her lesson horses that I have feel in love with these past couple of years. Even on a bad day, I always leave the barn with a smile.

Thank you, Leigh

Leigh is an awesome coach. She always finds a way to explain the most difficult physical skills in a way that is understandable. A great sense of humour and endless patience.
